Since bringing color to motion pictures 90 years ago, Technicolor has evolved into a global and diversified corporation that is now considered the preeminent worldwide provider of services to the media and entertainment industries. Technicolor serves an international base of entertainment, software, game manufacturing, independent rights holders, and corporate customers across its four strategic business units.
In addition to being the world’s most prolific processor of motion picture film, Technicolor is also the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of pre-recorded videocassettes, DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, and CD-ROM. Technicolor is part of the Services division of Thompson.

Project Description

Using a popular ERP package, Technicolor had established each of its businesses and divisions as separate entities. While this was adequate for managing the businesses separately, Technicolor’s financial management needed an integrated perspective and global view of its national and international operations. After writing off a $600,000 investment in an initial attempt, Technicolor finally achieved its goal.

Scope of Services

5x Technology’s consultants were able to design a Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse solution to deliver successful consolidated budget and financial results of all divisions and business operations across the globe. The resulting system resolved variations in general ledger account definitions, accounting standards, currencies and item definitions to provide Technicolor management with a dependable, reliable financial view of the company.

5x Technology’s work resulted in reduced financial and accounting labor involved with budgeting, which allowed for better reporting and decisions involving the deployment of Technicolor financial and physical assets resulting in greater value for Technicolor shareholders.

“5x Technology’s ability to see our true issues and help us resolve our reporting issues is what enabled our success. Their understanding of our ERP, manufacturing and reporting needs was exactly what we needed.”
