The Business Innovation Center (BIC) at Army and Navy Data Center (ADC) supports US mission objectives through operation support, some of the programs or processes shared are applications of Organizational Design, case studies from use of Lean Six Sigma, Executive Management and Decision Support tools, shared Business Transformation oriented contracts, and outcomes from various workload and performance capabilities.

Project Description

The ADC BIC required Netcom accreditation to achieve this goal, end-users outside the immediate firewall to be able to securely run web-based business intelligence reports. They also needed CAC Card integration for single-sign-on, as well as user database synchronization to a custom database outside of the BI platform. Finally, technical staff needed coaching on how to design user friendly semantic layers so analysts could easily learn how to research weapons systems and other data.

Scope of Services

5x Technology provided software implementation, configuration, and testing and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise (BOE) which included exposure of the WebIntelligence ad-hoc query and analysis tool thru the firewall via custom SDK coding, Universe design & report writing, sample Xcelsius dashboards and project documentation. Finally, CAC card single-sign-on was established via Java SDK custom coding and integration to an in-house user database for BOE authentication.


ADC BIC customers are now able to get reports quickly and easily • Achieved Netcom accreditation for their Business Intelligence objectives on schedule and budget • Proper knowledge transfer to ADC technical staff enables them to handle changing information requirements to keep up with customer demands.
