What is Business Intelligence?
Business intelligence (BI) refers to computer-based techniques used in identifying, extracting, and analyzing business data - mostly internal, structured data and business processes - to discern trends or patterns, thereby deriving insights and drawing conclusions to clarify vision and strategy, translate them into action - helping an organization make better business decisions.
BI technologies provide historical, current and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of business intelligence technologies are reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining and predictive analytics. The Business Intelligence process includes communicating findings and effecting change for small parts or groups within an organization or an entire enterprise.
